Clinical Questions in Assessing Children with Complex Needs:
1. What assessment information do we have?
2. Does the child have a sensory impairment? If so, what adaptations are needed?
3. What are the child’s gross and fine motor skills?
4. Does this child need specialized access? (e.g., switches, eye gaze, etc)
5. Does the child show communicative intent?
6. What is meaningful or motivating to this child?
7. What are the short term goals and how will we measure?
8. What are the long-term goals?
9. What DID NOT work?
10. Environment consideration diseases— 75% of the children— and there, unfortunately, are no treatments or cures for most of them
